I am an Indian Australian wanting to teach English in Korea, but all my efforts to come have been in vain! People tell me it is because Koreans believe that an Indian person does not know how to speak proper English even if they do. This IS NOT a racially motivated question, I am wondering why my Caucasian friends are getting replies back but when I send my resume with photos I don't!

I am an American and went to graduate school with many indian people. Although they know how to speak english their usage tends to be extremely awkward. They tend to use correct words (they even use super intelligent words that most Americans don't know the meaning of) but they do so in a clumsy manner. When speaking they also tend to have an unearthly dialect and rhythmic pattern that is hard for most Americans to understand. So, if the Koreans are familiar with these general characteristics of Indian people and they want to learn english so they can move to America, then they probably just want to learn from people that speak english in a more Americanized fashion.

There is no stereotypes here but basing on my experiences:
When comes to understanding English spoken by an typical Australian, I might need to finetune my ears, and it will require more tuning to get to understand a speaker with indian accent. So since you say you are educated in Australia, I would say I might have to crank my reception to the max just to get a clear signal... hah hah. It's just a jokes... Amigo
But for the Korean guys, well, I must say you are unlucky there, bro. They are bunch of loosers and suck cockblockers in their blood, they are stingy, bad manner, rude. No wonder why their girls never want to marry them but rather go west for easy money in massage parlors leaving them home alone raging with testosterone surge

just another stereotype....do they have more skills than u? if not...then it's pretty obvious. ur always going to have some boundaries. remember...korea is not america (or australia) where race doesn't matter. the rest of the world functions differently. i cant speak on behalf of the koreans...but...yeaaaa *voice drifting off*

They want the best to teach them English.

They want the right people to teach them to speak correctly.

They are not aware people in India are able to articulate good English.
