I watch this kid for $50 a week for 20 hrs. her parents started bailing on my @ the last minute, so i told them from then on they would have to pay the the full 50 if i didn't get 48 hrs notice. well me & my kids r sick this wk. i told them we were sick on sunday & they still brought her on monday. then wednesday, they called me n the am & told me that cuz we were still sick & dad wasn't working there was no need 2 expose the kid 2 us being sick. they made it sound like they were only not bringing her cuz we were sick. even though they were here monday. so my Q is, should I charge them the full $50 or was it my fault they missed a day cuz i was sick so i shouldn't charge them for that day even though they brought her monday?

they didn't bring her cuz the dad didn't have 2 work it really had nothing 2 do with me being sick they just added that as part or the reason for not comming in. they didn;t have to hire anyone else.

They are giving you the shaft. They brought their kids over for you to babysit on two occasions when you were sick and that was o.k..They cant use sickness as an excuse. They are taking advantage of you.You made the policy about the 48 hour notice,it sounds like a reasonable rule, stick by it. Don't put up with their nonsense.

They sort of took advantage of you because after all, they did bring the child to you for a day even after you had informed them that you and your kids were indeed sick. Just sort of go with the flow this time but set down some concrete rules and put them in black and white and give them to future clients. If they don't agree to the terms of your service, than you will not be able to babysit their children.

i say charge them. It sounds shady because they brought the kid on monday. Besides, you are only getting paid $2.50 an hour. Even if they feel slighted, they've got a great deal and won't easily give that up.

$50.00 a week for 20 hrs? Yeah, you're getting the shaft alright!! You should be getting paid whether or not the child comes. If they take her to a center, thats the rule. $50.00 for 20 hours isn't enough! You're getting shafted twice.

I just want to say that youa re working for less than min. wage. You're the one doing them the favor, so I would charge them.

at that rate, you are charging 2.50 an hour, so why dont you just make it easier on everyone and charge by the hour? that way if they are late you make more, and if they dont need your service then they dont feel like they are wasting money?

I wouldn't because you were sick. They had to find someone else to watch the child while you were sick.
