I took NyQuil for the first time last night to get rid of a cough. I thought it would help me sleep too. I heard it makes people drowsey. It had the complete opposite effect on me. I was up almost all night and now i am at work and i feel like i am out of my mind. I feel dizzy and lightheaded; like i am on drugs or something. Although i am tired, my body just does not feel normal. Is this a normal reaction? Has this happened to anyone else?

.
I have had a similar experience with NyQuil. To me, it is the best product out there for cold relief because when I take it my nose dries up completely and I sleep like a log... usually.

This one time, though, I took it and had the same reaction that you describe. I was so completely hyped up that I couldn't even lie in bed. I felt like I was going crazy. I got up and walked around the house, but it didn't help. I felt exhausted, but I couldn't sit still. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't read. I couldn't watch TV. It finally wore off after a few hours, but those few hours were TERRIBLE.

That was a couple of years ago, and I've taken it again since then and not had that reaction. Sorry, but I don't know what caused it that time and I don't know if it'll ever happen again. So I can't predict if it will always be that way for you. It was truly awful that one time it happened though.
