Eh...If Pantera was a choice, then I'd put them against Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth since they too were popular during their time :)

NIN wipes the floor with the three combined which is no small task. Yet it happened.

Here's the Rank 'Em countdown: All these bands deserve honorable mention for their ability to kick mainstream in the teeth and still make a living.

4. Nine Inch Nails. Good songwriting but how do you call Trent Reznor a band?

3. Rage Against The Machine. No one else sounds like them, and what they do can change a community overnight. But as a band, they didn't stay together. Kudos to Audioslave for their short, interesting run.

2. System Of A Down. The most creative of these four contestants, and most melodic sound. There's just some tension there that makes me wonder about giving them top billing.

The best band!
1. Tool. The most distinctive sound/lyrics. Only complaint is why they don't put more albums out. A Perfect Circle albums aren't the same.

I like Rage a lot, but I am going to have to go with System of a Down.

Actually you f*cked up and left Pantera out of the competition. Had you included Pantera I would have definetly picked them. I know they don't exist any more and Phil is an asshole, but Vulgar Display of Power is an unbelievable album.

God bless Dime!!

Tool . There is no other band out there that has the creativity to create such intricate powerful songs. Maynard has some of the most captivating lyrics and that's one of the reasons I love Tool. It's a challenge to decipher what his lyrics mean. Also, they are excellent in concert. I'd have to say that NIN is definitely a close second b/c Trent is a genius b/c he's written basically all of his music including all istruments. However, they are bands out there that have sounded similar to NIN.

Heres how it goes down. Tool and SOAD get beat down and thrown out rather quickly. This leaves you the "de facto" matchup: NIN vs. Rage; the battle of the most commercialized industrial outfit against the politically charged hardcore/ rap crossover. The key phrase here is "rap crossover"; which reults in a close loss for Rage.

The winner :NIN, barely

NIN>Tool>RATM>SOAD

It's really a toss up for me between NIN and Tool because I love both of these bands so much. Trent has been around longer though, and his production work is the best in the industry. Tool is a close second just because there are no bands to compare them to... still, they get marked down for having too much filler on their albums between the songs...

Kind of hard to choose but I'd say Rage Against the Machine. I like Zach's politically charged music.

Nine Inch Nails........ I mean Trent Reznor, is the most incredible artist of our generation. Just look at the covers, LP, AFI, and Johnny freakin Cash. Tool/APC...... I mean Maynard James is a very close second, but whose counting? Rage and SOAD have good lyrics but the tune just doesn't quite do it for me.

Good question.

definitely Tool over NIN (but i loved Broken) and Rage way over SOAD just because the best parts of SOAD songs are too short.

i'd take Pantera narrowly over Megadeth.
