everybody - VOTE FOR A THIRD PARTY!!! start petitions to get rid of the electoral college, and also to do away with parties. this is how these idiots take control, by stacking the deck in their favor. this issue has recently been brought to congress and was immediately shot down. why do our representatives not take OUR side? because they belong to a PARTY. this is not a democracy anymore - it's a dictatorship sanctioned by the American voters (and non-voters). look back far enough in your history books, and you'll see when they first reared their ugly heads, the Republicans and Democrats WERE the same party. they still are - just differing on enough hot button issues to keep the public blinded by the fact that they own us.

By being educated and active citizens. Apathy is our greatest enemy.
Be active. Get informed about the issues from a variety of souces, don't just rely on one source of information - do your best to get either unbiased information or at least information from a variety of sources.
Call and write to your elected officials. They can only epresent your interests if they know where you stand on things. Tell them. Hold them accountable. And if you don't like what they are doing, find another candidate and work on their campaign. Help get someone into office who will represent your interests.
VOTE! No excuses.
Be active in your community - join a public action committee or a city board. Join the PTA at your kids school. Or at least attend meetings. Go to city council meetings. Make your voice heard. No one can do it for you, and no one can voice your opinions as well as you can.
Please note that I say this regardless of your political party or philosophy. I think that everyone has freedom of thought and freedom of speach, and that we need to respect the opinions of people who disagree with us.

Sequester all political candidates from society to solitary confinement until the election is decided. Have names, faces and party affiliations anonymous with only their stances available to be known by the voting public.
I think many close minded party-line voters from both sides would be surprised when they discover who they voted for.
Make impeachment just as easy and convenient as firing a Wal Mart employee who steals from the company. --Swifter justice for politicians of all ranks.

Realize that we are all Americans, regardless of our political affiliation.
Get rid of all office holders who have been in office more than one term.
Stop government handouts....Get Americans back to work.
Close our borders.
Get some new blood in offices around the country who have new ideas and dedication to country not dollars.

First of all, VOTE INTELLIGENTLY, and not by who has a pretty face, sex, race, etc.
Secondly (and perhaps more importantly), we need to do away with the Electoral College system of electing a president since it is unfair, obsolete and makes no sense. George Bush got elected because he had a narrow margin over his rival in electoral votes. But this is sad because he actually got LESS popular votes. And you see what happened. Now with almost 4,000 of our young people dead in a war which has no purpose and probably no ending in sight, we are stuck with this clown.

I don't want to "take" my country back.
I want to move forward in new directions, towards, perhaps, a higher plateau. Maybe one that is bordered by Blue-stem prairie grass that grades into a small valley where falcons dance as gray silhouettes against the marbled sky.
I envision holding hands with Lady Liberty, rock-hopping across the cool streams that bathe us, give us life and provide reflections of who we are. Wet with excitement, we bask in the red rays of dusk, that fade into night as whippoorwills chant and Pleiades leads us onward towards our quest.

We will NEVER take our country back unless every American voter and citizen stop the back stabbing that seems to go on (between cons and libs, dems and repubs). We must be a united front or whatever we are doing will fail. Then what do you have?

First the American people have to understand that it needs taking back. then it needs to understand WHO it needs taking back from. And it's not the "liberals" and it's not the "conservatives." It's the government as a whole. They are no longer of the people for the people, and they have overstepped their responsibilities and duties.
