For pity's sake. I'm looking through questions to answer and find that the majority of people don't give any substantial information, don't know how to spell, lack proper syntax and are generally stupid. WHAT GIVES?? Do you sleep in English class?

Bob W: Way to make grandiose generalizations about the correlation between f***ed up grammar/spelling and a f***ed up life. Bravo sir, bravo (I hope you can sense the heavy sense of sarcasm...I wrote about it just in case you run your life as I suspect...now feel the hypocrisy).

HILARITY...if he weren't lacking in formal grammar, he might have written "Heck, if I were still lacking in formal grammar..."

But that's neither here nor there, I suppose.

Secondly, this is followed up by saying that he would use the spell checker if he still lacked in formal grammar. Spelling and grammar are not the same thing...a spell checker alone will not help anyone with their grammar.

Yeah, it's a little annoying that many people have terrible spelling/grammar. It's a little obnoxious when people write as if they're sending a text message. It's grating and embarrassing that people don't care to know the difference between its and it's; between their, there, and they're; so on and so forth.

Ultimately, I don't have high expectations for exceptional grammar/spelling when it comes to informal sites such as this. If I can read/understand the questions and/or the answers, that's enough for me. It's a little petty to run around the internet correcting everyone's spelling/grammar. A lot of people on Yahoo Answers should be college English professors as per their complaints.

Verbal hygienists are annoying, and a lot of people on this site write how they talk...what a perfect pair for my nausea.

Again, communication is all about send and receive. If you can receive the information, why do you care about the package? If you can't understand it, there's a problem. If you refuse to understand it because it's not how you want it...that sounds like a personal problem to me.

I know I won't get best answer, but I don't care. What I do know is that a lot of people need to just get over it. Just don't read what you don't want to read. Why does everyone feel the need to comment? Become a teacher if it's that important to you. I think most people would rather remain high and mighty.

I do.

Perhaps, many can't even read that "Check Spelling" option. Heck, if I was still lacking in formal grammar... I'd use that thing all the time, just to learn or brush up. I have a spell checker in Firefox and I make sure I use it. I agree with the lack of unsubstantial information. Also, an easy question... twenty more people will still post the same original answer or go off on a tangent all together.

i'm a translator and proofreader yet i do no longer recommendations-blowing human beings on the internet except asked to through fact those that are actually not linguistically minded do exactly no longer care, it truly is a waste of time, and it purely gets on their nerves. That suggested, undesirable grammar, spelling, and punctuation is disturbingly time-venerated for the period of the internet, different human beings see it, and, understanding not greater ideal, replica it; and so the vicious circle is going on till undesirable English is the norm (if this is not already). i'd ought to end my interest to recommendations-blowing each and all the blunders I see in an afternoon's surfing: this internet site is crammed with blunders (no longer which comprise the intentional ones), as many from the preachers of sturdy grammar as from the defenders of illiteracy; the shortcoming or overuse of the apostrophe being the worst (2 Weeks' be conscious or 2 Weeks be conscious? sure, even Warner Bros go incorrect, so what desire for something human beings?). And what is going to we do whilst even respected web pages like the BBC are rife with blunders? by ability of how, the spell examine is functional yet no longer proper. I surprisingly much positioned "fairly my interest" through fact my arms are continually racing forward typing person-friendly words till now my recommendations reaches them to tell them what they might desire to actual be typing. The spell examine does no longer have picked that up. It probable does no longer %. up all undesirable punctuation the two, e.g. the version between this is and its. This internet site is actual no longer that undesirable whilst in comparison with many boards i've got seen, so according to probability some tolerance ought to be exercised.

The problem is that too many people use 'texting' conventions when posting/answering, which has made them VERY LAZY when it comes to grammar and spelling.

The other issue is as another responder stated -- they don't care. This is a pity, since good English is an art, and grammar and spelling are big parts of it.

Accurate grammar and spelling are important! Many people may not care today, but in my job (which pays all my bills) it is one of the biggest contributors to either failure or success.

Take a look in the politics section if you need any further explanation as to what is happening to our country as we lose our ability to properly exercise our freedom of speech, which in this case, takes grammar and spelling.

PS - There is a little green button above that allows you to check spelling...

Forgot to engage the spell check, and I DO pay my fair
share of sin taxes. I do sleep any chance I get, and
I've so old that I'm livin' in the pasture now.As far as
intelligence, may I ask the IQ score of the inquirer ?
(in military testing, mine was 136 out of 150-- Just as a
reference point) :0{

I agree. I try very hard to understand some of the questions. I must say, many are incomprehensible. Punctuation is missing, words are misused and misspelled and capitalization is absent. Most questions are lengthy and rambling.

Just think.....they run their lives this way too. Confused and uninformed.

Are you the English Police? If I used all CAPS (like you did) in an English paper, it would get marked as wrong.
