Do you think the punishment would have been worse that it was on Bellichek?

I do think that BB should have been suspended, and sadly one of the AA coaches would have probably got that punishment. (Tony is spelled Tony, and don't forget Herm) But, of course "we shouldn't say that race has anything to do with it" But in all reality, the Pats might have been cheating since BB got there (sure is enough suspicion) and those 3 rings mine as well be forfeited like in college! But, he is BB and what would the NFL look like to really drop the hammer on one of the "good ol guys"??? (you see the players who got it were all black right?)

Okay for everyone saying that the fine was even, why do so many people say they would have done more? Chk this questions out: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar.jj3zCLDfIkabSYfFOiyNWxQt.;_ylv=3?qid=20070914061356AAXQN5N

But I am not saying the players actions were okay at all, but is Goodell saying what BB did was okay? 500k for three rings? If you were a NFL coach, would you pay half a mil to get just one ring?? Just something for you to think about. (I know Vick would have paid 8 mil if all his crap could just be gone)

Yes and no, I think -had they been accused prior to this incident - it's possible the punishment would have been less because neither coach has been accused of this before. Were the situation exactly the same (i.e accustions had been leveled previously) than no, I do not think so.

However, now that this has happened to Belichick, I don't think the punishment would be any different for ANY coach going forward and indeed might get worse, simply because the NFL might feel the coaches aren't getting the message.

Veggie, why does everything come down to skin color with you? If you don't want people to judge you based on the color of your skin, don't make everything about race. Racism happens, it's awful and wrong and people should (and do) work to end it. But to claim EVERYTHING situation is about race is not only ignorant, it cheapens everything people who have fought and are fighting for civil rights have accomplished. For your sake, I hope you aren't as stupid as you come off.

No,and the reason is because Lovey Smith and Tony Dungy have more class than Bill Belichick who has to resort to such tactics as spying, now if you would have said Dennis Green, that would have been a different matter, because Green used the race card for his own interest,he would have been screaming that he was targeted because he was black

i know your asking this question from a race angle, let say if it were the raiders would the punishment have been worse....YES the patsies are the leagues little flagship and they get to play by different rules than anybody else its a fact, i think almost every other team would have been punished more severly, this is a slap on the wrist for the pats and a slap in the face to the rest of the nfl and a punch in the mouth of football fans every where

No.

Were it a team like the Texans or Cardinals that got caught...that might make a difference, but the Pats are as big a contender as could have been caught next to last year's SB combatants.

Okay, veggie, I'll play your silly little racist game: Yes, their punishment would have been worse. What would happen is that they would be renamed Toby, and have to pick cotton in Louisiana for the New Orleans Saints.

No, it would have been less because all blacks would be sticking up for them and Jesse Jackson would be threatening to march on Washington and all that. Then Whoopie Goldberg would come out and say that he shouldn't be punished harshly because stealing is part of the 'black culture'.

Smith AND Dungy would have gotten off with less than a slap on the wrist.
The NFL pampers blacks......players AND coaches.

Smith and Dungy are thrilled that it was Belichek who got caught [first] and not them.....YET.

So now we're hypothetically playing the race card? Attitudes like yours are part of the reason racism still exists in this country.

Nope...I think they would have gotten less because the NFL bends over backwards for black coaches.

Edit---I know some people are going to think that's a negative comment, but why do we have a Rooney Rule that says even if you KNOW who you want to hire you have to interview minority candidates...because the NFL is committed to more black coaches, and will do whatever it takes to get and keep them.
