I think so. People who do not pack their lunch for work should not be forced to eat a whopper and french fries. Instead of all fast food places being local, maybe a subway could be in the mix.

Are you serious? Nobody is preventing a Subway from being built. And, nobody is "forced" to eat a whopper or french fries. Haven't you noticed most burger places have choices besides burgers and fries? Mickey D's and Burger King both have chicken salads.

So, do you think a law should be passed that makes it illegal for people to order burgers and fries from places that sell healthier things?

Maybe we should have laws dictating what we should buy at the grocery store, while we're at it.

LOL

If someone can find a way to make money selling "good for you" food, that is great! The problem is that people make choices, and the market responds to those demands!

People choose where to eat based on several factors. The taste of the food, the quality of the service, the price, the time it takes to get the food, and location of the establishment all are taken into account.

For example, there is a diner that I like, that on the way to several auctions that I attend. I seldom stop there because it is hard to find a place to park my truck (towing a car trailer) and it means a 45 minute stop! The service is good, and the food is better, but it is hard to get to, and it takes too much time! If I am in the area with a car, and have time to sit and enjoy a meal, then you will find me there!

I also make choices on price, and on the taste of the food!

The government should not be in the business of limiting choices. If people want to eat fast food, they will. If they do not like the food, (type or quality) or the service, the restaurant will not have customers, and will close!

By restricting choices, the government will not do anything but limit the ability of people to invest in business in that area! If I think that a fast food place will make money, I may spend my money to open one! If I cannot open what I think will be profitable, I will look for other areas to invest, not invest in something that I do not see being profitable!

No i don't think this because there's choices in life 4 everyone and if u choose to pack a lunch, then that's ur choice. Others may not have the time, so they choose fast food.

The vote comes up on this soon and it was to restrict the building of NEW establishments for a period of 2 years.

I think it's a bad idea. Free enterprise should not be halted by the city council.

I think it would be a good idea. How about mass producing some healthy options out there. Lets get some cartoon characters offering good food, prizes in a healthy meal, and for a price people can afford. I know it can be done. Let a company like McDonald's do something for those that want to live healthy, lets get new healthy businesses to take over and lead the way.

Wouldn't a Subway be considered fast food?

I am for totally abolishing fast food restaurants. They are unhealthy and really disgusting. Can't we do better? Shouldn't we do better? It's our lifestyles that are killing us and increasing our health care costs. What is the root cause? How we work. That's one theory I have.

fast food chains are not the only options to go to for lunch. there are plenty of other healthier restaurants/cafes that a person can go to. what it boils down to is the person who makes the decision on what and where they are eating.
