Israel, this was thru the initial efforts of the Mossad w/c started in 1973. After confirming intel reports that a plot to assasinate Pres. Sadat by a palestinian group (the PFLP, a breakaway group of the PLO), a move to inform the egyptian president was set in motion. The plot was prevented and secret diplomatic links were established w/c culminated with the secret meeting of Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin in Bucharest in August 1977 then to his visit to Israel in 1978 (the Camp David Accords) and finally the signing of the peace treaty in March 1979 (Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty).
