That some people had no issue with them leaving their kids alone when we gave Kerry Katona mother of the year a couple of years ago!?
(BTW I am not buying into any theories about what may or may not have happened to Maddie but as a trainee social worker I cannot condone them leaving their kids alone . . . )

Maddys parents are going to beating themselves for the rest of their lives over their decision to leave the children alone. You and I know it was wrong and we would never do it.So why do we all keep bringing it up?
Sorry barbie, yes i agree, but again it is the media who choose who is to be mother of the year. I'm sure we know plenty of women out of the spot light who would be much more worthy of the title

Barbie, I can only speak for myself and nobody else. I don't disagree that they left their children alone that night but what I will say is that the babysitting service that was offered was a listening service and not a sit in room service. The Markwarner complex that they were staying at was like a small village and many many parents did exactly the same thing. They all took in turn to go and listen at the doors.
I don't think I have seen anyone say that they accept the neglect but I'm sure there are parents out there who were on holiday at the same time as the McCanns, in the same complex, counting their lucky stars as they had also left their children in their rooms.
How you can compare this to Kerry Katona I just don't know?

Your question is very poorly phrased. Maybe that's why you aren't getting good answers.
"Is it any wonder that some people had no issue with them leaving their kids alone when we gave Kerry Katona mother of the year a couple of years ago?"
Well, I guess, no it is not a wonder? I guess some people have no issue with people leaving their kids alone. It's not surprising that SOME people would have no issue with people leaving their kids alone. Other people do take issue with it though.

I don't really understand the first bit of your question!
Did Kerry Katona leave her kids alone?
Yes, I could never condone leaving three small children alone!
They are definitely guilty of that!

Without a doubt they were wrong to leave the kids alone, however nobody is perfect and they are paying beyond belief for their mistake. I could be wrong but didn't Kate Moss also receive the title of mother of the year after her drug scandal appeared in all the papers. These are people who don't deserve children!

i don't really understand the first part of the question but i completely understand the second part and completely agree that leaving your children alone is indeed wrong and i must admit i thought it came under the umbrella of neglect and wonder why this issue has'nt yet been addressed. We don't know yet what has happened to Maddie, bless her heart, so we should'nt be throwing accusations about, though its not easy to keep quiet in this case because of all the stories going around, producing assumptions.

Hi barbie - I see your point. It's shifting perception, though isn't it?
Probably the press were surprised that Kerry Katona hadn't left her kids in Iceland!! (The supermarket, not the country).

Barbie, I often wondered why the heck she was awarded this? I thought it was the worst message to send out to people! Of all the deserving parents, that would represent how parenting should be done, she was probably at the bottom of the list!

Totally agree with you! Why they did or did not kill their little girl, be it intentionally or accidentally ... Facts remain! We all know not to leave children by themselves. That is known as neglect!
I have discussed the issue with my partner and we both agreed that! Had it come to a night out leaving the children unattended ... It wouldn't happened! Say he had planned a night out and we had no one to take care of the children ... I'd have told him to go! And i'd have stayed with the children as i did when my children were young.
I have to say that my children are adults now and neither would go out for a meal or whatever else leaving their own children by themselves. I don't call that being a good parent! only normal parenting! You make children you look after them!!!
