Asimo is pretty much one of the best systems to date, but....he's just a robot with some clever gadgets and computers to mimic intelligence. Are we likely to see the emergence of truely intelligent machines anytime soon?

The problem is in the words "artificial intelligence", for which we do not have a clear definition... yet. Nor do we have a clear definition of "a human being" (in legal terms). Sounds obvious, but it is NOT. (but this is another subject)
We have made huge progresses in the recent years, in software as well as in hardware. We have created small "machines" that use neural network processing and are capable of LEARNING FROM THEIR MISTAKES! That, to me, is a sign of intelligence. And artificial, since we made them.
But the time of having a "machine" like "Data" (Star Trek) is far from our reach.
All our life, we try to better ourselves (at least, some do): we learn from our experiences. Some machines do that too.
We can learn the whole of the Encyclopedia and be still stupid: we would be "educated", not "intelligent".
We can be illiterate, but able to avoid repeating mistakes, so we can be "intelligent".
The machines are the same: if a robot hits a door at its first attempt to go through and repeat the same bug all the time, it has no "intelligence": it did not LEARN.

No i do no longer think of i might examine it in spite of in case you're able to make it come off as no longer morbid. i detect it unrealistic and it reminds be slightly the starvation video games and countless different novels. no longer in a good way the two. Sorry. i do no longer comprehend why the government at this factor might even drop off food yet in simple terms decrease it off fullyyt and enable them to all starve. And besides that i think of that the protests for basically a merciless punishment fairly while a boy like your important character can get sentenced wrongfully. i might have had him truthfully kill the guy much less cliche and provides inner conflict... yet even so this isn't some thing i might have written. even inspite of the undeniable fact that in spite of the fact that i would not examine it i'm beneficial some people someplace might, and in spite of the fact that I see flaws in it i've got not examine your tale so i won't be able to precisely decide.. good success.

Nice question.. the fact is Asimo and other projects are a very dedicated step towards the objective but still we dont have achieved artificial intelligence that is to learn by itself.. so the answer is that we are approaching towards it but we are n't still there

No, we are still many years away. Although, with the advancement of video games that have been coming out onto the market and that are being developed there are many new abilities being discovered. I think that when we have true AI it will be more of an interactive video/voice machine than that of a robot.
