It depends where you are. If in the UK try the bike jumbles as advertised in the various classic bike magazines available in most shops and W. H. Smiths. Although the best one is RealClassic and subscription only, their web site is http://www.realclassic.co.uk/messages.html
Click on Events to find the bike jumbles. There are various shops, but it depends what make you are interested in. Try putting the question with more details of the make you are interested in on the RealClassic message board.

For the Japanese Big 4 these guys are tops.
5 bikes mostly older than 1989 and much need for parts.
