I agree with you. In my opinion, bush is trying to "save face" and won't admit it was a big costly mistake. His big prize for the whole thing was getting Saddam's rusty little pistol as a trophy to please bush senior, who dropped the ball when he was in office..
I was wondering last night while he was giving his address if the american people are even listening to him anymore, or just waiting it out because he's finally almost out of there.
And yes, it's awful that the next president will have the job of cleaning up a huge mess created by a little tyrant playing power games.

He only has a year left so there is little motivation to change the plan. Best case, we won't be out of Iraq before the election. There isn't time for Congress to force his hand.
I wonder if the lack of a strong candidate for president, especially on the Republican side is because the next president will inherit the war.

The next president will have a mess regardless of if we are in Iraq or not. Look around you at our country. It didnt start in the last eight years and it won't end in the next eight. It won't end until we stop see ourselves as democrats and republicans, and start seeing ourselves as Americans. And toss all the current poiticians out and get some new ideas.

I've seen that coming for years, and am not surprised by anything Bush of his team does anymore.
The war should not have occured but it did. Thousands should not have died, but they did. Nothing I say now will change any of that, and Bush is already set to go down as one of the worst presidents in world history (World History.)

Of course it is!
Look at what has happened since we invaded Iraq:
Has any of Cindy Shehan's antics brought the troups home? No.
Has any of the tousands of protests around the country brought the troups home? No.
Have any of those useless referendums on the ballots brought the troups home? No.
Have any sit-ins at politicians office brought the troups home? No.
Has Congress suceeded in bringing the troups home? No.
Bush just doesn't want to admit that he was wrong-& yet, ONLY he has the power to bring any troups home. & I don't see that happening any time soon.

It wouldn't be the first time this happened. Johnson didn't want to pull out of Vietnam because he didn't want to be known as the first president to lose a war, even though he was haunted by it for the rest of his life.Bush is incapable of addmitting a mistake.

He doesn't have the guts or the intelligence to figure out how to fix it himself. I feel sorry for the next President.

I agree with you. It seems he's gotten us into this with no plan on how to get out and is expecting the next guy to clean it up.
Why anyone wants to follow behind him is beyond me.
