Bear in mind, 'Best Of' and 'Greatest Hits' are two totally different things. 'Best Of' allows for more flexibility (i.e., deeper album cuts, live fan favorites, etc). 'Greatest Hits' means pretty much just that -- radio hits.

Also, don't forget to name the artist you're doing. Try to limit the playlist to no more than 15 songs. This is just to try and have some fun and be creative on a Friday.

I have actually done this in reality for two of the artists / bands in my collection.

I like so much Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks, that as well as having all the albums, I compiled a double 'Best Of' album for each ~ for the days when I just want the best bits!

This is the Stevie Nicks album :~

Disc One

1) Bella Donna
2) Enchanted
3) I Sing for the Things
4) Whole Lotta Trouble
5) Thousand Days
6) Gold and Braid {live 1981}
7) Sorcerer
8) Stand Back {live 1987 - with Fleetwood Mac}
9) Think About It
10) Sometimes It's A *****
11) Juliet
12) If I Were You
13) Love Is Like A River
14) Candlebright
15) Beauty and the Beast
16) Blue Lamp
17) Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You

Disc Two

1) Trouble in Shangri-La
2) Rock A Little
3) I Need To Know {live 1981}
4) If Anyone Falls
5) Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
6) Rooms On Fire
7) Sorcerer ~ Marilyn Martin, 1984 {Stevie on backing vocals}
8) Doing the Best I Can
9) The Nightmare
10) Planets of the Universe {extended}
11) Sable on Blond
12) Love Is
13) Blue Denim {single}
14) Crystal
15) Edge of Seventeen {live 1981}
16) It's Late

Alll the best 'Best Of's' are double albums!

Fleetwood Mac :~

Disc One

1) Big Love
2) Dreams
3) You Make Loving Fun
4) Miranda
5) Rhiannon {single}
6) Go Your Own Way
7) Station Man
8) Sara
9) I'm So Afraid
10) Silver Springs
11) Say You Love Me
12) Tango in the Night
13) Thrown Down
14) Tusk
15) Isn't It Midnight
16) Landslide
17) Blue Letter {single}
18) Storms
19) Songbird

Disc Two

1) The Chain
2) Everywhere
3) Gypsy
4) Second Hand News
5) Running Through the Garden
6) Honey Hi
7) Seven Wonders
8) Family Man
9) Love Shines
10) Gold Dust Woman
11) Sisters of the Moon {single}
12) Why
13) Never Going Back Again
14) Don't Stop
15) Angel
16) World Turning
17) No Questions Asked
18) Mystified
19) Come

Obviously, I have many albums by many groups / artists in my collection, but these are the only two I have felt the need to also make 'Best Of' albums for.

With some artists, if I only like enough songs to make one single or double disc album, I title that as 'Best Of' or 'Very Best Of'.

The Best Of Paul Carrack - Don't Shed A Tear
Compiled By Your Uncle Dodge for Laughing Dolphin Productions

Songs presented in chronological order:

1. Ace - How Long
2. Squeeze - Tempted
3. Paul Carrack - I Need You
4. Mike & The Mechanics - Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)
5. Paul Carrack - Don't Shed A Tear
6. Paul Carrack - One Good Reason
7. Paul Carrack - Collrane
8. Mike & The Mechanics - The Living Years
9. Mike & The Mechanics - Don't
10. Paul Carrack w/Roger Waters' Bleeding Heart Band - Hey You
11. Mike & The Mechanics - Everybody Gets A Second Chance
12. Mike & The Mechanics - Another Cup Of Coffee
13. Mike & The Mechanics - Over My Shoulder
14. Mike & The Mechanics - The Ghost Of Sex And You
15. Mike & The Mechanics - Web Of Lies

The artist and these songs are picked since this CD/comp may never exist except in my Windows Media Player. The man is simply able to step in and shine on keys or vocals regardless of the talent around him.

I lean heavily with four tracks on the highly underrated "Beggar On A Beach Of Gold" album from Mike & The Mechanics. That whole album somehow got overlooked, with the last recordings of their deceased bandmate Paul Young demonstrative of the excellence.
