My mom won't buy any water and the only water that she wants to use is tap water, and it hasn't rained for days, so I can't collect any water.
What should I do?
My mom is really mad at me because of this, so she's not gonna buy anything.
Really, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!?!?!?!

There's a problem.... If I let tap water sit for 24 hours, my mom would probably dump it all out thinking that I irrespoinsible. I even tell her that and she says that she's not doing anything for my venus flytrap! (I know, my mom has problems)

Actually, there is only on VFT, the Red Dragon, that suffers horribly with tap water. All the others do okay, but over time the water can cause problems. Aged tap water is just fine. Just let it sit for 24 hours and you are good to go.

Here are some sites that you will find very useful while raising your VFTs. Good Luck and have fun

VFT NoNos:
No Meat
No Fertilizer
No Tap water, but you already know that :)

Daniela, I'm sorry your mom is having problems, and I can understand why you don't really know what to do. If you can find a gallon jug, fill it with water, and put it someplace your mom won't look for it then you will at least have some water for your plant. Just make sure you mark it as aged water for your venus fly trap just in case she does find it and she will know what it is for and she won't think anything strange by it.
Also, if she is willing, show her the information on the site I sent you so she will know that your plant can't take regular tap water.

Good Luck

are you sure you put the fly far enough down? there are tiny hairs that are triggered when touched and cause the trap to close. normally I've seen the for about $5-7. That is weird that they sold it for only a dollar. I am not too sure. I would just leave it there for a little while make sure the fly is not too big and don't close the trap with your fingers, that causes the plant to lose energy or something
