How does it punish them?
Belichick is a MULTI MILLIONAIRE and won’t miss that money and the “team” DEFINITELY WON’T.
So what they’ll lose draft choices.
That’s what free agency, trading players and all the other ways to acquire top-notch players is all about.
From what I read of many of the answers from many of you that use Yahoo Answers Football American, many of you are VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE concerning the various aspects of the NFL and football so I just KNOW that y’all don’t believe that losing a few draft choices at ANY level can REALLY prevent a team from acquiring the player(s) of their choice.
Just consider the dradt. What’s to prevent them from trading up or compensating a team in a different manner to get a higher draft choice from some other team? And no matter what the monetary penalty to the Belichick or the “team”…
you that buy tickets and other Patriot merchandising that the Patriot organization profits from, you Patriot fans will pay the fines for them. LOLOLOL!
Still think it’s fair?
LOLOLOL.

Belicheck should be suspended for the entire year. Especially since this isn't the first acuzation. He jepordized the integrity of the game, a sport he is suppose to love. Look at what happened to Pacman, Briggs, Henry, Tank (dum-dum) Johnson, all of these players were involved in off-field trouble, but there actions got them fines plus suspensions. Belicheck is now labled a cheater, and the truth is no one really knows how long this has been going on. (where is Deep Throat when you need him), (No homo.)

And they discovered it after 1 quarter...Goodell had to be tough. And Mangini has had it out for his former head coach for a while.
Let's just say, as a former defensive coordinator who had several years as a defense coach, Mangini knew about what Pats would do for a long time. I am sure he was aware of what happened when in the play-offs, and impact it had.
He was able to enact a pound of revenge on a man with whom he has had bad blood for several years, especially since he became Jets coach,
This would not have affected the game, just perhaps the score. My only question is-why did Belichick have so little confidence in his guys that he felt the need to do this? That says alot.

The patriots have 2 first round picks next year. They could care less if they lose one of those. They have won a numerous amount of games for who knows how long cause of this. The punishment was weak IMO.

It is right and just beecause it was not the first time they were caught doing it . The Packers last year informed the NFL with proof that the Patriots were spying but they did not press formal charges. So the NFL knew they had done it and were waiting to see if they would it again and ehen they did , they brought the hammer down. This new commissioner is not taking any prisoners.

The Pats fine is totally unfair. The league sends a good message for taking an unfair or cheating advantage with the use of steroids--1st time; 4 game suspension. This video taping is also an unfair advantage or cheating and should have been dealt with accordingly--4 game suspension! It looks like the NFL is setting a double standard for cheaters!

The punishment was appropriate...Lets not get carried away...Sheesh...This is a rule violation, not a Michael Vick felony...Bill Belichick has tarnished HIS reputation...The Patriots are still the best team in the NFL...Belichick, while I still think he will be, probably won't be in the HOF on the first ballot because of this...But, don't trash the whole team...It was Bill's wrongdoing...

I think it was a good punishment.
I think Goodall got his message across pretty loud and clear.
In one sense the draft pick won't hurt as much since the Pats have another 1st rounder, but even someone rich will miss a half million dollars.

Not enough of a fine, the franchise should be fined like 20 million, loose their first round picks for the next ten years...something more serious!
