Pulte also builds nice homes on the northside as well as David Weekly. I agree about KB even though they are one of the nations largest builders, they have some significant quality issues. Another responder mentioned Centex, but I saw an article recently where they went to the state attorney general's office to appeal the states building requirement that the building be of workmanlike quality and suitable for habitation. They said they did not feel they could consistently meet that standard. When I was looking at homes I also saw significant problems with homes built by Granite Homes and Gordon Hartman. Monarch Builds some nice homes but they may all be above $150,000.
EDIT NOTE: Mommy, I have tried to respond to your email, and it continues to fail please send another note so I can send you the information you seek, about homes, my realtor, and a person who can do any rehab you need on a house.

My parents house was built by D.R. Horton 2 years ago. It's an extremely well made house. It's 3,400 sq ft, 2 level, and it only cost them $148,000 plus all the taxes. It's near 281 and 1604 off Henderson Pass. That would be the North/North East side. You'll find these builders all over the north and north east sides.
The good builders here are:
-D.R. Horton
-Centex
-Ryland
-McMillan Homes
-Armadillo Homes
The only builder here that we always here about on the news is K.B. Homes. It seems that owners are always having structural problems, roof leaks, and plumbing problems. I'd stay away from them.
Try D.R. Horton. You won't be disappointed.
Good Luck
