You don't absolutely have to take birth control. If you are not planning to conceive, then it is recommended to help bring your hormone levels back into balance. Many women with PCOS have high testosterone, and the estrogen in birth control helps bring that back into balance. There is no surgery to fix PCOS, there is nothing to remove. PCOS is a group of sympotms that are interrelated. Treatment of the symptoms makes them better, and thus the PCOS is alleviated somewhat. If you have it, you have it for life and need to take care of yourself so it doesn't flare up.

I too have PCOS. My doctor diagnosed me about a month ago by my sypmtoms and blood tests and family history. I am still pretty new to this and learning as well. You do not HAVE to take birth control but its recommended so ive heard. I am currently taking Metphormine to lower my insulin levels so I can concieve :). There is no surgery as far as I know. It can be helped with medication provided by your doctor. My period was always pretty normal and I had no idea I had PCOS until I had problems conciveing and went to a doctor for help.

i've got not got any solid solutions, all i understand is that my husband and that i've got been unprotected for 5 years and nonetheless no longer something. I recommend you communicate on your OB/GYN approximately seeing an endocrinologist. I even have been taking Metformin for some years that's meant to help with the indicators of PCOS. Then i began out taking Clomid some months in the past. (a fertility drug) yet you may merely take that when you start up a era and without BC I even have never been familiar. i'm going to circulate everywhere from 28 days to 9 months between classes. yet all and sundry is diverse and robust success!!

I too suffer from PCOS, and have for awhile. Right now, I don't take birth control pills, but need to because I haven't had a period for almost a year, which is not healthy. Luckily, yours is normal! The only reason for birth control is to regulate your period, but when you take them, your period comes hard and lasts longer. I was on mine for 3 weeks straight, doctor says its normal. I am currently on metformin, it will keep your weight down by releasing insulin, which having PCOS will make you gain around your midsection severly. Try to keep up on, eating healthy and exercising, and you need to avoid certain foods. Their are alot of important things that you need to know, sometimes the doctor will miss telling you. So my advice would be to do alot on internet research. If you have any questions, email me because unnfortunatly I've had it for awhile. GOOD LUCK!!1
