Most if not all laptops do not have the ability to change their Graphics cards. If you have an Alien Ware Laptop you might be able to upgrade your graphics card. If you do not you are unfortunately out of luck you are stuck with the graphics chip that the manufacturer soldered on to the logic board. Until such time as you replace your entire laptop. Beyond upgrading a hard drive or memory and maybe adding a PC card you cannot upgrade a laptop. The slots on the side are for adding things like wireless if your laptop did not have it built in or adding a card so that you can use your cell phone providers data service on your laptop, or maybe adding a TV tuner, or Firewire or more USB ports.

If you want a new video card for your laptop you need to buy a new laptop.

The PC card slot you've found is for things other than video cards.
