I'm definitely initially attracted to a song by its music. Take The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony", Loreena McKennitt's "Mummer's Dance" or ABBA's "The Visitors", I was hooked on those songs because of the music. It wasn't until after I bought the CDs that I learned the words.

But then, it was the words that got me in many other songs like U2's "With or Without You" or Steppenwolf's "Monster" and Bette Midler's "The Rose".

With Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye", those are the only words that I understand in the whole song, but I bought the CD because its absolutely beautiful.

Enya's "Afer Ventus" - I don't understand ANY words in that song but it is one of my all-time favorite songs.

So, it all depends. I like music as a whole.

First time around, I'm all about the music and general sound of the song, then if I like it I'll replay the songs a TON of times to get the lyrics right. As I'm learning the lyrics I try to take in the meaning of the lyrics, to get the message the artist wanted to convey to me, and not just take the song at face value.

In the long run I learn both the lyrics and the music, I sing all with the in instruments all the time!

the lyrics are the main serious part of a music for my section. an excellent music to me is one that i could savor in spite of if there advance into no history sound and purely words. those are the songs that permit me to get rid of myself from something of the worldwide and that i individually experience bodily/emotionally related to them (i comprehend that sounds weird and wonderful yet i dont comprehend how else to describe it). i like listening to songs touching directly to my undertaking or lyrics that describe my very own recommendations and thoughts. thats why a terrific variety of music right this moment is crap because of the fact human beings have stopped worrying with reference to the content and purely with reference to the melody yet those songs get previous quickly. yet an exceptionally solid music with solid words in no way receives previous.
