4)do i HAVE to see a doctor, as i know you can buy over the counter medication, but is that safe to use in case i dont have yeast?

If you have no itchyness or bad odor, it's a good possibly that it's not a yeast infections.

I'm not quite sure about the yeast considered as an std.
Stress plays the biggest role for yeast infections, that's why some women always have infections all the time.
The treatments are those like Monstat something.
You can use the over the counter meds, but if it doesn't work, you might want to see a doctor, now they have those meds that really works, it's those pills you only take it once and it works for 3 days!
Yes the dr should be able to tell you right away!

The cottage cheeselike discharge is a classic sign that someone may have a yeast infection.

As for the other questions:

1. No yeast is not an STD, even babies can get a yeast infection

2. Yes, stress could possibly make one prone to a yeast infection because being stressed can compromise our immune system making it easier to get an infection such as yeast

3. The treatments are antifungal creams like Monistat and pills like Diflucan (can only be obtained by a prescription)

4. Yes, it is really a good idea to see a doctor to find out for sure if this is indeed a yeast infection because it could be a symptom of something of a different infection type

5. Yes sometimes a doctor can see if someone has a yeast infection without doing culture swabs that get sent to the lab (had this happen to me about a month ago)

6. The doctor will often do a swab any way as well to check for other things that could be causing this besides yeast

Acidophillous is a good thing to take to prevent a yeast infection in the future. You can buy it in tablet form or by eating yogurt.

I would definitely recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation to see if it is indeed a yeast infection before trying to self-treat.

Yes, technically yeast is considered an STI (sexually transmitted infection) IF it is something that is chronic in nature. However, stress and hormone levels play a huge part in yeast infections. Additionally, it may not be yeast at all. I always get a milky white thick discharge the week I start my period. It's normal. Your discharge will go through many different phases throughout your cycle.

There are OTC tests these days that can determine if you do indeed have an infection. They're about 20 dollars and so is the treatment. All in all $40 versus a doctor's bill is rather nice. If this is the first time it is always recommended to see a doctor instead of self diagnosing.

The discharge could be because you are ovulating. If you have thrush the discharge is a yellowy / greeny colour and smells like, well, yeast!! Itchiness is a symptom of thrush but you dont always get that, especially if you are in the early stages. Go and buy some caneston cream with a supository. If you dont have thrush it wont do you any harm but if you have it, it will clear it up in a matter of days.

The doctor may diagnose you straight away depending on your symptoms but if they are unsure, you would need to have a swab taken, the results take approx 1 week. Your doctor sees this sort of thing all the time and wouldnt bat an eye at you so dont worry about going to see him/her.

1) no, its not a disease its an infection.
2)no i don't think stress has anything to do with it.
3)you can get a 10.00 vaginal pill from your doctors office. there are also kits you can buy at places like will mart or Walgreen's.
4)no you don't have to see a doctor ( cause you just did, I'm a doctor)
5)in a yeast infection you: have to pee often. you pee very little at a time. its stings, stinks and is darker then normal.
they are usually due to over cleanliness. to many baths perhaps. they can clear up all on there own, it just takes a couple of weeks. if you just want to play it natural and wait it out cranberry juice helps.

a yeast infection (thrush) is not a STD at all, it is caused through ither too much yeast in the diet, lack of hygene and tight clothing.
if u do go to the doctors they will give u a pessery and some cream, as it sounds to me that you have the yeast infection on the inside of your uetrus because u have no signs on the outside or your vagina.
the doctor will tell you to avoid the following:
tight clothing
perfumed toiletries
and a yeast diet.
p.s try to bath than shower as it cleans the inside of the vagina.
GOOD LUCK!

I don't think washing with soap is a good idea!!! Try getting some Canesten for your thrush. You can get pessaries, cream and there is now a tablet you take orally. You get all this stuff without prescription from your chemist.
