Definately Sourav Ganguly.
Reasons for this :
1. He has the record of being The Best Captain ever in history of Indian Cricket.
2. He was left out of team and captaincy because of his poor form, not because of his bad or match - loosing captaincy.
3. He has the "Killer Instincts" as a Captain who gives 100% answers to the "Tricks" by opposition to disturb our concentration or plans.
4. The main reason behind the drop of Ganguly as Captain as well as a player was Mr. Greg Chappell, he experimented too much
5. We have very important "Home Series" coming up with our Traditional Rivals Pakistan for 7 One Days and the Champions Australia for 3 Tests and 5 One Days. Here Ganguly has The Best Track Record as a Captain. ( You can check the Statistics for proof )
So, We can nominate him as Captain for these two series and meanwhile think forward for future options.

I was really sad to read about Dravid resigning. He was one of the most calm captains we had, who approached the game with well thought out plans, although they didn't always work.
Apart from Dravid, Ganguly was a great captain too, the complete opposite - fired up and short tempered but passionate. And his winning record with the team was one of the best. But I don't think they would bring Ganguly back.
Someone like Dhoni or Yuvraj is where the selectors should be looking now. They are young players but not brand new either, they have the right amount of experience and energy in them. Dhoni is having his opportunity to show his skills as captain in the current Twenty20 world cup so we'll see how that goes. The only concern I have with Dhoni is that he is a big hitter but is he capable of making strategic decision in the game? Which bowler to play when? Which fielder to position where and when? May seem like simple things, but I think these skills reside in the more senior players. Plus, how will he manage wicketkeeping and captaincy and batting? Dravid had the same pressures when his averages fell.
Yuvraj can be a good choice, he has the brain and fast reacting actions, but with discussions with players like Sachin and Dravid.
Having different captains in Tests and ODIs is a good idea, different players function well in different forms of the game but it would prevent the team finding consistency.

Who it could be if not yuvraj? Well, we all know dravid is a very good player than a captain, for everything there is an end, and i think this is the end for rahul dravid's captiancy carrier, it is the time to think about our indians' future, well i think yuvraj singh deserve to be a captain, He is one of the great player who can handle any type of pressure, he also has very good experience and above all he is young he can be an aggressive captain
To be a captiain, all these qualities are to be needed,i believe this man can do some magic if he could come as a captain.

BCCI will take a decision regarding new Captain on 18th September, 2007. I feel that they should appoint Ganguly as interim captain for the series against Australia and Pakistan and in the meantimne groom up Yuvaraj Singh and Dhoni to take up captaincy in future.

first of all the 35+ men i.e Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman might desire to retire or be sacked as this outdated age in no longer for enjoying worldwide cricket. they are playing on purely to make funds! And tests and 50 over suits are quickly going to be historic previous so Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni be made captain and vice-captain for India respectively! basically they are perfect in the fashionable 20-20s!

I believe there should be a single captain for every format of the game. And at the moment, it should be Dhoni. I would have gone for Yuvraj. But right now, he is not an automatic choice for Tests. Apart from that, i think he is still not mature enough to lead a team.
