I know Peter has a real job already, but in more of a moral stand point, would you consider Spider-man to me a firefighter saving lives and such or a cop putting away criminals?

Spider-man has always been a cop with a superior moral conscious awareness.

Peter Parker is a superhero that is vulnerable just like cops and that most average people can relate to alot better than Batman and Superman. Parker's alter ego Spider-man is an everyday ordinary person who struggles with normal every day feelings and his purpose in life like cops, including whether to kill criminals or to bring them to justice through the legal system.

The fact that Spider-man is physically and emotionally more vulnerable than most other superheros is what makes his decision to seek justice by eliminating as much crime as he can from New York truly amazing. Hence the name, "The Amazing Spider-man!"
