The highest compliment one can give another is to share the art of ***Listening***
Listening requires full engagement of our senses and our conscious presence in the world of another. Our private worlds are communicated by our language - auditory & kinetic. To truly "love" another (the real kind, not the fluffy kind!) requires our full attention, and for it to be meaningful, also requires that we offer this without expectation of reciprocity. From this, we have the opportunity to jointly cultivate an authentic connection which has the potential for growth in ways which elevates simple communication into a state of awareness - awareness of self, others, the world, compassionate understanding, ....life.
When someone truly listens to me and hears me, it is a natural reaction that I respond to this highest of compliments with the same honour they have bestowed upon me. You see, this is the "seedling" to all existence. And this is how we share our worlds with the art of ***Listening***.

Somebody already gave me the highest compliment anyone could. A man introducing me to another said: "This is the professor. He knows everybody hereabout from low to high."
I was writing a book about his whereabouts. To make it a really true book, I had to know everyone, no matter their station in life.
So if you want to pay a high compliment you must know what is at the center of that person's being and praise that.

It depends the person who expresses the compliment and the context.
A kid which would say spontaneously: I love you.
You, who compliments the layers in my answers.
A beautiful girl, I find special, who says, I got beautiful eyes (even if i did not do much for it)
An artist friend who in front of a new work would not say anything at all, but I would feel, how he is being moved, how this particular work, opens a new perception to him.

I have already received it! The highest compliment that I could receive would be that I am a great mother and was born to be a mother! My mother has told me this; my MIL; my husband! They all made my day, year, life!

1 time I was getting my hair done...my fiance went to get food and a guy drove by while I was on a smoke break waiting for the dye to set in. Well, he stopped...came up to me and asked how I was, how old i was (16 at the time), my name, etc. I didn't get much time to say I was taken. So when I said my age, he said "Oh wow. I thought you were older. I was just admiring a beauty from afar" Then he left. My fiance got back when I went back in and the guy came in and ask me if I would join him in seeing a movie and grabbing a bite to eat. My fiance was sitting in the chair next to me lol It was sweet though. =] Blush everytime I think about it!

Four words, "That made me think". I LOVE to think and when something makes ME think, there isn't a greater gift to me. So, as I see it, if I make someone else think and they tell me so, then THAT is the greatest compliment that someone can give to me,
