Making thoughts about yourself is not different from making thoughts about anything other than you.
What is your opinion on this?

I find this statement to be false for various reasons. One can not simply live a life focused only on thoughts of his/her self. I'm sure you could try to do so for a few days but you will find your mind to wander. It's not because you are a boring person, it is simply the lack of stimulation for the brain. The world is out there for a reason. Connect with it, you can only gain wisdom if you seek wisdom.

From the standpoint of how thoughts are formed and remembered, there doesn't seem to be any difference. Imagination is imagination. You may filter it through different internal 'realities' for thoughts about different subjects, but you can also change that if you want to.
