How much money should I take for a trip to europe?

I will be going to Spain and France in December with a friend of mine....it might ultimately turn out to be a group of 4....and I already bought my plane ticket, but I wanted to know how much money I should take for food, hotels (i dont mind staying somewhere cheap) and going out? Is 2.5-3K enough?

By the way I'm 19 and I plan to go out in the social scene a bit

You do not say how long you travel for.
I would say $100 a day if you are careful, $200 per day if you want to spend a lot on sightseeing and drinking.

Or work the other way round, you know what you have, divide it by the number of days you go, and you know what you can spend per day.
If your 'per day' is less than $100 make sure that you can get extra money when needed, (like talk with your parent about a loan.)
Bus travel is cheaper than the plane and hostels are even cheaper than hotels and a good guidebook will show you where to book your hotel, find things to do and see.
Lonely Planet gives the info you need, and it will safe you more than the guide costs you.

3k plus would be safe. you're american right? because things in europe are expensive because the euro is worth more.

$1.49= 1 euro.... so yeah, things get pricy over there for us.
