I was started at 6 pm and had her the next day at 4 pm. I was pretty comfortable the whole time (yeah epi!), and only spent about 45 minutes in active labor. My next baby, though was totally different! I was started at 6pm again, and they gave me a sleeping pill at 11pm because I didn't get any sleep the last time. Bad idea! I went into active labor about 1 hour later, and actually kept falling asleep between pushes! He was born just after 4 am.

When I checked into the hospital to be induced, I hadn't started to dialate. They had to put some kind of pill in me that was supposed to help. It caused me too have mild/moderate contractions. This went on for two full days. I ended up going into labor on my own before they could actually induce me. They still gave me pitocin (sp?) to speed things along, and it still took over 20 hours.

I started prostaglandin pill at 8 AM, was having mild contractions on my own, dilated 1cm to start...kept having mild contractions, ended up having 4 more doses of prostaglandin pill...contractions picked up by 5 PM, in intense pain by 8PM, didn't deliver until 9:15 AM next day. Epidural wasn't offered to me, just milder forms of pain relief. In the end it all didn't matter, I have a beautiful baby boy. Everyone is different, depends on the condition of your cervix and how you are induced.

mine was around 23 hours. Ended with a c-sec. Started with a pessary around 8.30 am, went down to delivery suite at 6.30pm, got on drip and by 10.30pm needed epidural. Went through the night like this until 7am when it was decided, as i was still only 3cm dialated, to have c-sec. All in all I didn't enjoy the experience at all. However, u do forget about it in no time

I had the gel at 8am got only very very minor cramping, more gel at 1pm, more minor cramps, so broke water at 6pm, established labour by 6.30pm and born 2.20 am .

So if I count it from 6.30 when real contractions started, she took about 8hrs but full on the whole time unfortunately. Natural birth is so much easier!!
