I just gave birth to my second child 5 and a half months ago. I got the IUD (a month later) because it was the most effective form of birth control. I did NOT want any more children, and still dont.

I had my last period on August 20th. But now I am having all these pregnancy symptoms!!! Nausea w/o vomiting (although its not constant like it was with my other pregnancies). Diarrhea, I spotted a few days ago, and here's the scary one. Im lactating!!! I had to squeeze REALLY hard to get anything to come out, but, it eventually did.

Im freakin out here cus I had first two VERY close together, which means I am very fertile. Does being very fertile throw off the effectiveness of the IUD? And yes I know...go get a pregnancy test....I am doing that tomorrow, its 2 am here so I cant get one now. I would just like to hear of any knowledge one might have about this, and if im not pregnant, is there any reason for lactation?

The IUD causes irritation in the uterus preventing implantation of fertilized egg. I believe they also release hormones. The only way you could be pregnant right now is if your IUD has shifted and is not in the proper position. Your hormones could still be a little off from just having a baby, etc. but I would go get a test just to confirm. Your period isn't that late.....so it might be too early for an accurate result. Maybe you should call your doctor and explain the symptoms just to be sure.

Its no longer likely that having a peroid and an IUD you would be pregnant yet its very possiable. I fairly have a chum who has has 2 youngsters (of seven) with an IUD in place at the same time as pregnant. IUD's additionally can fall out, have you ever checked to make useful the string continues to be there? i'd take a attempt to correctly known for useful.

I don't think a womens fertile state has anything to do with the effectiveness of the IUD. As for the lactating, it could still be leftover from your last pregnancy which is completely normal. My mum said she could still squeeze our milk 6mths after she stopped feeding me. Other that that, it could be an infection especially if you are sick with vomitting and diarrhea. Oozing from the breasts is not a good sign in that case.

However, pregnancy with an IUD insitu is a big deal and you need to get to a doctor not a HPT as they would need to get it out ASAP because it can cause Ectopic pregnancy which is bad for you and baby. You should be having abdominal pain with an ectopic pregnancy though. Are you sure the IUD is still in because if they aren't put in right they can fall out or be pulled our during sex. Rare but it happens.
I'm not sure about the spotting though, that could be from the IUD because it changes your periods.

I had mine taken out this morning because it was causing my uterus to contract around it like a very very long (1hr) contraction. It happened 5 times in the last 4mths and is so painful and just like I was giving birth!

Best of luck and I would maybe take the HPT but go to the docs anyway to be sure.

It's definitely possible. My sister-in-law had the same problem. She got pregnant, doctor had to very carefully remove IUD (risk of infection, miscarriage) but she eventually had a healthy baby. It was her fourth pregnancy. Her first happened when she was on the pill. Some people are just very fertile. Her husband finally got a vasectomy.

And yes, the milk is very likely due to your prior pregnancy. I breastfed three kids and the milk stayed around many months after.

theres always a chance for pregnancy even with a IUD. and the fact that you just had a baby may increase your chances of being pregnant even more. if its not pregnancy causing the nausea or vomiting it could be something else. you should go see a doctor if it continue and also take a test that way you will know for sure. good luck hope things turn out the way you want them to

Well you only had your second child less than 6 months ago so the lactation could likely be from that. I only breastfed for 2 months but my milk stayed around in tiny amounts for a year.
