I read a lot of books. Lately I have been reading books by John Ringo who has a great new series out. The hero listens to a lot of Goth music and where I live in Sacramento, CA I am hearing from other people in my age group who seem to enjoy this type of music. Normally all I listen to is old time Rock 'n Roll, but I have no idea what Goth music is or where to go to listen to it. Please advise? Thx.

I'm five years younger than you and I didn't know we enjoyed Goth music. I'll have to check that out.

The only Goth {rock} I know is:

Type O Negative

they've been around since the early 90's, and these are their best albums:

Bloody Kisses
October Rust
World Coming Down
Life Is Killing Me

Another group that some people class as 'Goth' is:

Evanescence

You can check out the Metropolis and Cleopatra Record labels. They specialize in Goth type music.

My guess is that it is melodic enough that they got into 25 years ago when they were in their 30s, mostly likely a last hoorah for new music.

Most likely you want Bauhaus, Joy Divison, the Cure, rather than the later bands where it seemed to be more and more about playing dress up.
