3m is about 9ft 10 inch (actually just a bit over). Typically, if you are going to use wood as your header material, that is not large enough. You could get a steel beam that would fit that size restriction, but if you want to use wood, it has to be bigger. A non-load bearing wall would normally have at least 2-2"x8" boards glued/nailed together. If it is a load bearing wall, then you're looking at 3-2"x10", or 2-2"x10" laminated with plywood, possibly 2"x12"s

If you contact your local building permits office, they can tell you what is required by code in your area.

It should be fine if you not laying blocks on top of it.Most headers in western style framing are 2 2x6,2 2x8 or 2x10" or 12"s The header needs to rest on doubled up studs or block to carry the load. Good Luck
