Just try to impress the wife and kids, I bought this throught EBAY. Over all it looks good, but it shows too dark and the colors can not bring to real picture no matter what I try. It has SVGA 800-600. After couple weeks no ones want to see just my wife and she snores after couple min. Please tell me to give up or save my face please.

According to the Dell page this is a 1024 by 768 projector. It will look better (sharper) at that resolution compared to 800 by 600.

The contrast ratio is terrible for a DLP product though.

1000 ANSI lumens is on the low side. And that would be when it was new, if you have 500+ hours on the bulb it will probably be significantly dimmer. Life for these bulbs (ie 50% of original brightness) is usually 2000 hours.

Also it is a single colour wheel device. These can either be bright with really bad colour reproduction - usually yellows are the worst - or reasonable colour but dim. It sounds like you have both drawbacks!.

If there are a lot of hours on the bulb (there should be a timer in the OSD) then you can try replacing the bulb. These are expensive and it will do nothing for the colour reproduction.

It is probably better to ditch it, or pass it on via E-bay, and get a big screen TV or a projector that is designed for home use rather than office presentations.

Projectors will be good only in dark rooms.
