I've read a little bit about colloidal silver and it seems like cool stuff. I've been wanting to get into taking it but then my homeopathic pharmacist said it might be a good supplement for my dog (long story, but it started with an animal homeopathic practitioner). I'll probably take it myself as well. But there are a few things I forgot to ask.

So...
* Are there any instructions for taking colloidal silver? Should it be with a meal, by itself, after a meal, before a meal? It's easiest to give it to my dog with his dinner but not that hard not to.
* Do most people take it every day, or only when you need it, or a few days on and a few days off?
* Has anyone ever used the home colloidal silver maker? Does it work?
* Anyone have any other tips or advice about colloidal silver? Any personal miracles about what this stuff can do?

Instructions for taking colloidal silver: They are on the bottle.

I'm one of those that doesn't take it regularly. I take it as soon as I get home from work on the day that I start to feel sick. This means that I usually take it on an empty stomach. I haven't had much luck with it curing bacterial infections but it has worked great against viruses (but that's just me). I've read that the white blood cells grab the silver and use it against viruses and bacteria to kill them, though I don't know if the source was reliable.

A friend of mine makes his at home and swears by it, though after reading the above, I am concerned for him and his wife.

If you buy your colloidal silver and follow the directions on the bottle, it is highly unlikely that you will get an overdose (gray face). Some sites claim that they have a cure for the overdose. Other sites still insist that there is not way to remove silver from the skin on your face, no way to reverse an overdose.

During flu season, when my co-workers are spreading germs all over the place, I will start off with the same respiratory symptoms as them (sore throat, runny nose or coughing). I usually find the symptoms are gone within 4 to 24 hours after taking colloidal silver as instructed on the bottle. This has happened to me 3-5 times each year for the past 4 years. I guess it works.

Tip: The smaller the microns the easier it is for your body to absorb, so you will absorb more of what you take. When you shop, read each lable and look for the micron size and also the PPM (parts per million) which is the quantity of silver in the colloidal suspension. Many of the producers are just ripping people off because the process is cheep and the quantity of actual silver in the bottle is very small, so be a smart shopper. Also, over time the silver particles will clump together, making them harder to absorb, thus less effective. Sometimes a new bottle will look like plain water, but over time the silver will tarnish and color the water brownish. I've been told that tarnish does not change the effectivness of the silver.

Colloidal silver is a very powerful bacteriocide and is supposed to be capable of killing 650 different pathogens, if you believe that claim.

The worst thing you can do is to make your own because you will end up with 100% ionic silver which is nowhere near as good as colloidal silver which in most cases usually only contains a small proportion of ionic silver. Home made colloidal silver may lead to argyria if you are not careful and overdose and your face will become a permanent ashen blueish grey for which there is no cure.

Don't take this, it is bad. There have been many cases of people's skin turning gray. It will turn gray if you have a certain amount of lifetime exposure to it. It does not work.
