Ok, I was walking to the door entrance at my work this morning and saw a dollar bill in the grass, I picked it up thinking it was a $1 bill, instead, it's a 50. But before I go 'n spend it, I need to make sure it's not fake and I get in trouble for trying to spend it. What do I do to find out?

NOTE: It looks real. Feels real. But can't be too sure.

First of all are their cameras around you work? If so give it to security. Hold it up to the light to see a ribbon and a water mark. If it is a bill from be for 1999 it won't have it.

You can hold it up to the light and look for the identity strip inside the bill. You can also take it to a store and have them to use a testing pen on it before you use it.

Not to be a kill joy, but you might want to ask a receptionist or a secretary where you work, if someone was looking for the missing money. I hate to think of someone losing $50 if they really needed it.

If it looks real, it probably is, just try to spend it. They test and will let you know. Otherwise a bank.

Take it to a light and see the strip embedded in the bill.

Hold it up to the light and you should see a strip going through it that says USA50. If it's one of the newer face ones you will see the president's face when you hold it up to the light.

Does it have the line through it when you hold it up to light?? maybe you could try a counterfit pen. if its fake it will turn a certain color.
