Having just read the judgement, I'd have banned them for the remainder of this season too...just the team of course, seeing as the drivers were given immunity in order to get the emails in the first place. They could always have gone to rent a seat in another team for the last 4 races and tried to hold off Raikonnen.
It would have been good to see Alonso and Hamilton in the Toro Rossos for the remainder of the season...

I think that the stripping of all team championship points and the $100M fine requires 3 answers which need to be answered: 1) For the FIA to show this fine is justified; 2) The stripping of all Team World Championship points means the FIA believes that without the input of Ferrari technology the McLaren would be running behind Honda (2 pts), so show us this is also justified; 3) For Stepney and Coughlan to stop this secrecy nonsense start doing some talking.
Addition: Someone posted the link to the FIA decision on another question (below). I think, sadly, it pretty well indicates Ferrari was right to take this seriously.
I think it was Michael Schumacher who, after the F1 race in USA where only Bridgestone tired cars drove (2005?), said "Would anyone have cared if it was Ferrari?" (I mean fined in this case). The answer is yes, we should care.

McLaren cheated to win and deserved the treatment. But I believe it was a lot more lenient and could have been a bit strict.
FIA isn't just plain stupid to blame McLaren that they are cheats. McLaren brings a major share of revenue in F1. So, the FIA might have solid evidence to take such a decision coz if I have known McLaren one bit in the past 10 yrs, McLaren don't just stand looking when there is sh*t thrown at them. They are guilty and that's why they are quiet.
The drivers knowingly or unknowingly did take undue advantage of the Ferrari documents. So, whether you like it or not, both the drivers' points should be docked off.

Yes I sure do have some sneaky suspicions.
See, the snitch was from the Ferrari stable.
One may ask why they've been let off scot free.
The only ones to gain from all this have been Ferrari.
One may thing that they've succeeded in their devious plan.
What if they planned the leak. Inconsequential as it has been cause McLaren are nose, neck and shoulders ahead this year anyways. Esp. Constructors.
I say, McLaren has been penalised very severely and investigations might just reveal the real cheats.
FIA has definitely acted hastily. It's almost like they are motivated against McLaren.
Meanwhile chill and enjoy the race.
I bet it's McLaren 1&2 again.

I'm a Ferrari fan and I hate this decision. I think it was just too much. Yes I know that McLaren admitted that they had the Ferrari documents but to exclude McLaren from the Constructor's Championship was extreme.
If the rumors are true about what role Alonso played in this saga, I would be very upset with him if I were a McLaren employee. He takes the term "whining crybaby" to new levels.

The F1 is a circus......how can you remove the points to mclaren but not from the drivers...the pilots was driving illegal cars product of the technology of Ferrari...so the mclaren car is the product of Ferrari property....that's is unbelievable......the fia is moving in the line of eccleston mind..so for me....eccleston wants that Hamilton win the championship doesn't matter if he and Alonso drive a illegal car...yes sir..
regards
p.s mclaren have to pay 100 millions,but...the rest of the teams what receive????nothing..the only winners here is the ripe birds like eccelston....

The FIA have placed an unprecedented fine of $100 million in order to tighten up the title towards the end of this season.
If Hamilton hopefully wins this year, it will make it difficult for McLaren and Hamilton to win next year!!
Come out SchMACKER....., wherever you are!!!
Ecclestone.....loosen the reins a little!!!!!
Just my humble enlightened opinion!!!!!!!!

They should have been fined a lot more. Mclaren can easily afford the fine given to them by the FIA.

Didn't go nearly far enough. With next year's car already well underway, let us hope that the enhanced technical inspection that it will have to undergo will throw up some extra punishment.
