Well... parks are nice. If you have a dog... puppies work.. people love talking about their pets. The puppy doesnt have to be yours btw.
Starbucks.. bring a book.
Church..I know its prosaic but if that is something that you do.. you might meet someone like minded.
Outdoor events like outdoor movies, concerts, charity walks etc. I love charity walks like Asthma, Breast Cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer Walks. Its excercise, good fun, charity and lots of people. You can always meet interesting people there.
The trick is to smile, be open to new things and have fun.
Good luck!

We have the potential to meet people all day everyday. When your grocery shopping make eye contact w/ someone that has attracted your attention then smile. If you get a smile back, speak. Try to open up a line of communication. A few minutes of talk will let you know if there is anything there, if there is, don't leave the store w/o a phone number. This can be done most anywhere, especially places that require you to stand in line. Good Luck

Join a gym, get into some classes or sports that interest you, join harmony.com or some other dating/meeting website to get you kick started. And if all else fails, why don't you try a match maker. They can be expensive but it's an option. Another thing I tell lonely hearts, your miss perfect or mr perfect is not going to come knocking on your door, you have to get yourself out there to find him/her. So go a-hunting! Lots of luck with this!

If you are part of a church they usually have singles groups. That is a great place to meet someone of the same beliefs and morals. You also might try Yahoo Personals. There are a lot of people out there in the same situation. Find clubs or groups in your area for the hobbies that you have. You never know who you might meet from that. Even if it is mostly guys...most have a sister or friend that they might set you up with if you pass muster with them first. Good look and keep swinging! Don't forget the ladies where you work.

Geez, Joe C, cut us some slack.
I totally agree with the internet dating suggestions. I have met a couple of boyfriends online and it is such a great way to meet people! At first it feels weird, but you get used to it, and everyone's doing it.
It's so great because it's so much more systematic and scientific (sort of) that meeting random strangers. You can search for people with the same interests and values, and look at their pic to see if you're attracted. Real life meeting people in bars is so overrated! I've tried out a lot of the sites and I think the yahoo one is the best.

there are church groups, hobbie groups, you can always take a cruise to someplace. Being locked on a ship for 4 or 5 days should let you find someone. you can also ask friends or family if they know any good single groups. I would start with hobbie and church groups first. also check your local paper for community events. they some times have singles nights at this place or that place. getting on a bowling team works. any sport activity is always a good way to meet people. Good luck.

Me, personally, I always advise people to join a sports club of some kind. There are sports suitable for all age groups & levels of ability etc.......Great places to meet other people.
But I have been told that one of the best ways to meet someone is just by walking the dog!
Supposedly, if one takes his/her dog for regular walks in the dog park, or on the dog beach s/he will encounter others of the other sex doing the same thing.
So, when the dogs are walking around sniffing the bums of other dogs you are chatting up someone.....so I'm told.

Take up a new sport, one that commonly has others doing the same sport in the same area as you. Personally I recommend snowboarding. It is great exercise and you're likely to ride the lift with others. Just strike up a conversation and see where it goes.

Go to a men's clothing shop, if you see a cute guy ask him if he would mind trying on a jersey or something you have in your hand, tell him it's a present for your brother or something lol.
