YES - It is quite normal to have BLEEDING after a membrane sweep is done to induce labour pain and delivery of the baby.
What is a membrane sweep- It is normally and usually offered at 41 weeks. Membrane sweeping is done by your midwife or doctor. While internally examining you, he or she will simply ‘sweep’ a finger around the neck of your womb (cervix). The aim is to separate the membranes around your baby from your cervix. This releases hormones called prostaglandins, which may kick-start your labour. A membrane sweep increases the likelihood that labour will start within 48 hours. You have more chance of success if the neck of your womb is already softening and preparing for labour.
A membrane sweep can be uncomfortable because the neck of the womb is often difficult to reach before labour begins and there may be some slight ‘spotting’ of blood and irregular contractions immediately afterwards. You may need two or three, but they will not increase the risk of infection to either you or your baby. -

If it is spotting or brown blood i would say yes as this may be the plug / mucus which is sometimes called a show. The membrane sweep is there to take away all the mucus so it helps your cervix to thin and to start contractions.
If it is bright red blood, or a lot of blood more than spotting, or any pain i would call your midwife or gp to check.

yes, I have worked in an OB/GYN clinic for the last year, and I can assure you that it is perfectly normal to have SLIGHT bleeding after your membrane is swept. If you are still bleeding after a day or two, or if it is heavier than light spotting, I do suggest you call your doctor, and get a telephone consult. He/she may have you come in. Good luck, and I hope the sweep works for you!

I had it done. It hurt for a brief moment, then it was just uncomfortable the rest of the day. I had cramping the rest of the day, but labor didn't start. I was induced 7 days later. I heard it works 1 out of 4 tries. If it's going to work, it's going to work within 24 hours. Also I heard that if you have sex after getting it done, the sperm can help move things along. Hope that helps. I would do it again with this pregnancy, if the doctor offers. It can't hurt to try.

It is normal, especially if she in labour. Even if they are not inducing the labor, bleeding is still normal. So dont worry about it.

From what my dr always told me and from my three kids, every time I had an internal exam I would spot/bleed a little, but he told my that it was normal. If you are bleeding a lot then call your doctor asap and ask, better safe than sorry. Good luck!
