If you have a standard pulley problem (basically a string over a frictionless, massless pulley) and you've got a weight of W1 on one side and a strong man on the other side. What's the upper limit of W1 that the strong man can pull?

Intuitively, I want to say his weight, but I'm not so sure about that.
