Yes the 80's ruled. Movies were original. Music had real lyrics and real musicians. It's hard to explain. It's like eating at a four star restaurant everyday in the 80's, and then eating thawed out TV dinners ever since.

I guess it would depend on how old you were in the 80s. Every generation will have a decade they deem the best. After the 70s the 80s were fun and I loved the music that was being made back then. I kinda liked the styles and big hair, and hair bands, MTV when it played videos and some really funny and great TV shows.

They REALLY did the clothes were a little shaky. If anyone see's a picture of you during the 80's and you're rocking the fashion "it was the 80's" is a GREAT excuse. Thats a great excuse for anything you did in the 80's

80's still has pop culture that is discussed alot, it also has music that people still listen to, so do other decades you might say, but not as much I don't think.
I never realized how different the 80's were I was born in 77 and I thought the 80's weren't anything as a kid, but now I see there was a lot of pop culture and alot of historical events as well in the 1980's.

No...right now rules...
The rise of Grunge music was a direct response to the shallow "hair band" "arena rock" gooshy "want to party all night long" commercial crappola music...
When it was all about the fluffy hair-do of the male rock stars, rather than about the quality of the music...every band sounded the same, and put on the same explosive light show to hide the fact their music was high school level quality (with the exception of the early 80's with Pink Floyd's The Wall & Guns n Roses in the late 80's...cause PF was saying something, and GnR was scaring people)
The dudes all looked like skinny effeminate wankers in tight leather jeans (I used to be one of them...but I progressed as a human being, and if I hear one more play of Kiss's "Wanna Rock & Roll All Night" song, or just about any "Aerosmith" or any other "Arena Rock Commercial Wannabe" shallow Classic Rock song...
I'm gonna puke...
(Disclaimer: I still enjoy occasionally listening to that crappola once a year for nostalgic purposes...but to me...today's music is way better...more honest, less fluffy, less showy, and more about the quality of the Rock music than who the band members are, and what they look like...I like the bands that are in the Top 40 right now that "really" did start out in the garage of their parents house...I hate the Hollywood created monsters that might as well be Wax Museum figures...the band "Fuel" is a perfect example of GQ created image...they were pieced together by a team of Hollywood casting directors...I hate that...I like bands that look like the grungy dudes down the street pissing off the neighbors with their amps...
