ask them questions. thats the best way to talk to an online friend. don't assume though you might be thinking the wrong thing

ask them questions on how they feel about certain things. if you find you disagree more than agree you know what kind of person they are someone you wont get along with.

Listen to the inflection of the voice....with enough practice, you can decipher truth and lies in most people's voices alone...
