I am very much anti-violence. I didn't like the idea of going to Iraq, and I don't like the idea of staying around there. But does anyone else think it would be a HORRIBLE idea to leave right now? I mean, we went over there, uprooted the one thing they had going for them (peace, albeit at the cost of freedom), and now we want to leave the place in shambles? The US overthrew their government, unsecured their borders, destroyed their peace, and now it seems like we're leaving them in their greatest time of need.

I think America should stay involved, at least to restore the peace we uprooted. I heard that over 100,000 (some or many innocent) Iraqis have died because of our ideas, the least we can do is help them rebuild.

I also don't think we should force a specific government on them. If they want to have a constitutional monarchy, or even a regular monarchy, isn't that up to them and not us?

Please be kind to me. I'm just wanting to get others opinions, not start a answer war.

It's the only thing that I disagree with Ron Paul on, really...

He is a Republican, but just barely...

I don't think we should pull out over night and leave them to sort their rubble and say "see ya next september!!!" as we blow away in our Hummers...

I think we need a strong but kind democrat in office to help Iraq rebuild itself without just throwing them money and weapons like we used to...

It really is a tough call no matter which party takes office...
Do you let them kill eachother and potentially promote terrorists who will attack us again?
Or do you stay - and spend Americas best resources on an angry, ruined nation of religious dogma?

The REAL problem that WE'VE created for the Iraqi "Nationals", is that we've turned their country into a "Dependency". And ANY kind of "dependency"- can get VERY addictive, VERY quickly. Now there are a LOT of "influences" inside AND outside of Iraq, who would LOVE to "cure" Iraq of its dependency on us. And they'd take their bloody time- doing it. So THAT argues for us to STAY there (& like you said- fix what we "broke"). But OUR problem is; this is going to take MANY, many years to achieve IF we can figure out how to do it at ALL. And for MOST of that time- it's going to be tieing up MOST of our Military; MANY of our tax dollars, and taking THOUSANDS more American Soldiers lives. So the ultimate question IS, is THIS what we really "signed up for" when we invaded Iraq... -Or is it a nightmarish "mistake" our current President made, & WE'RE stuck holding the "Bag" labelled-"Iraq" ?! And the consequences for us STAYING- are unpleasant. Taxes will have to be raised to support the war & the rebuilding of Iraq; a National Draft will have to be set up to rebuild AND replace some of our troops in Iraq. The Countrys surrounding Iraq are NOT going to be very happy about us staying in Iraq- so we're going to have ongoing problems dealing with THEM... And what about the "terrorists" that are training around the Middle East even NOW?- Do you think they're going to "sit on their hands" -while we're "fixing" Iraq??! ... We've got ourselves in a REAL mess... -And if we don't decide to get out SOON, our Grandchildren could STILL be trying to "clean it up"- & cursing their forefathers, in the process. :(

Come on do you think the Shiites and Kurds were living in peace???? They were cowering every minute hoping Saddam's executioners weren't coming for them!! I guess you forgot the about the Kurds being gassed!!! I don't know whee a constitutional monarchy came from..That is about as possible as Saddam being resurrected!!! We should stay as long as the bad boys next door(Iran) are around !!

this is not a political action, this is the recommendations-blowing element. Democrats continually look at how their movements will impression them politically. real leaders do the recommendations-blowing element and the recommendations-blowing element is to stay and end the interest.
