My teacher says that I shouldn't label myself a lesbian prior to at least kissing another woman. Do you feel this is true?

I would wonder about your teacher? How you feel about women is more important than if you're had the actual experience a lot of people know that they are gay as young as early adolescence and when I mean early I mean as young as 10 or 11 and I'm sure that a lot of them don't have any experience yet either. You will get the experience when you find the woman that you want to be with and I think that at this time in the world you are being sensible to take it slow and not to jump in bed with just anyone. When you find the right woman you'll know it and it will all fall into place than.

I'm 19 I've never kissed a girl and a boy, I never slept with a girl or with a boy, but I'm sure I'm bisexual! It's not a problem! You know you are lesbian because you know who you like. So, you can tell you are lesbian! You will kiss and sleep with a girl when you will meet the right girl for you!

First of all this person is 23 ! I don't think student/teacher boundries apply here .
Your teacher may be aware that there could be many explanations for your current feelings : Male avoidence due to post traumatic Stress disorder such as occurs with child abuse , Total sexual avoidence due to PTSD due to child abuse or other sexual repression, Confusion due to a bi-sexual identity , Transgenderism due to to genetic and/or hormonal conditions , Other medical conditions , etc.
It would be good for you to speak to an UNBIASED counselor about this . In other words don't seek out a woman who has had breast removal , lives as a lesbian and calls herself a transexual . Go to an openminded , educated , objective couselor .
Until you have a firm grasp of your situation it might be good to say you are openminded , investigating , still figuring it all out , or some other such term .
ADDED ( For the benefit of those declaring that just the attraction towomen is enough to declare yourself Lesbian ) : If you felt "attracted" to males but hadn't had a kiss or even a date with one by the time you were 23 , I would advise not declaring yourself to be heterosexual/straight until you examine your life a bit more to see what was standing in your way of experiencing hetero sexual relations .

Not at all, I was a virgin when I met my girlfriend and I had been openly out three years before that. Think of it this way, do you need to sleep with a man to know that you're straight? My dad said the same to me, how do I know I'm a lesbian if I've never been with a woman? You know.

You are what you are. Do not let anyone label you. No one knows how you feel so how can they say what you are. You can also kiss a girl and not be gay if you want. Or you can kiss a boy and still be gay. You are the only judge of your sexual identity

In a way your teacher is right. How would you really know that you are gay? Except the fact of being attracted to women. I honestly would label you as gay. You are just unhappy with the male population of this would. If I did have the best husband I could have asked for I would say I couldn't blame you, cause there are some major jerks out there.

I wouldn't label you as gay.... but you could go out there and meet some gay women.... talk to them

If you know you're sexuallty attracted to women and not men, then you are a lesbian, regardless of whether you've actually acted on your feelings yet or not.

Your teacher doesn't know what he/she is talking about. If you knew for sure you were sexually attracted to men but were still a virgin, would your teacher tell you not to label yourself hetero until you'd kissed a man? Ridiculous....

Sleep with me and you can then officially call yourself a lesbian, I've converted many a woman to the dark side...I suppose I should be ashamed but I'm just glad to help with my inadequecy.

Don't listen to the teacher. Yes, you are allowed to say you are gay.

Straight people are straight even if they are virgins or celibate. It is the same for us.

Btw, I didn't sleep with (or even kiss) a woman until I was 26 years old, but I came out when I was 14. I knew I was gay when I was 11.

Many people expect us to be sexually immoral /wanton. Don't give in. Wait until you are ready, you will be a happier person. You're okay, doll. :-)

Go with God.
