Why do are people obsessed with celebrities. Can't we just leave them be and stop harassing them. I'm not rich or anything, i just want to know why people like to spy on celebrities people.

Because we want to say, "Look, she's not any better than I am/she's a terrible mother/she needs to gain/lose weight" etc.
Maybe because it's too mean to gossip about people you know at work, your neighbors or friends.
Maybe because we want to make sure that celebrities get treated fairly, not better, when they get arrested. TMZ was the first media outlet to have the story about Mel Gibson's rantings when he was arrested for DUI; the sheriff's department tried to cover it up.
