I have DSL, but I don't have a house phone (just the internet connection) but they gave me a phone #. Question is, can you use that # for faxing? Someone tried faxing me something with that # but it didn't go through.

You can use that for fax if you have a fax machine (or a fax-modem) hooked up to the line (with the appropriate filter).

You can't have DSL without the phone line, so you have a phoneline, for sure. You just don't have a "receiver" hooked up.

(Heard this story... this guy want to do VOIP so much, as soon as he got his VOIP order in, he transfered his house phone # to the VOIP company. The problem is... this DISCONNECTS his landline, and thus, also cuts off his DSL, and thus, no more VOIP! And he can't reestablish service since the VOIP company takes 5 days to transfer the number back! ;)
