For me the biggest singer for all times are the carpenters. Their songs have continually gained awards even though it started many years ago. Many young ones still know how to sing their songs. Their songs still captured the heart of every generation. Their songs are undying.

Elvis. He has made more money while dead than any other PERSON, singer or not. Hell, I don't even have to say his last name. I still have to say Patsy CLINE, Buddy HOLLY, but Elvis doesn't even need the Presley for people to know who I'm talking about.
That doesn't bode well for poor Elvis Costello, either...
So my vote is for Elvis.

Male vocals I would say you have to go with Freddie Mercury. Female is a bit harder. Christina Aguilara has a pretty incredible range and quality to her voice.

Depends on who you are. There are many great singers, so it's positively impossible to pick one that everyone enjoys listening to, but I love Steven Tyler.
