I posted this before but it was in the wrong category..

I found it in my house and I'm not sure what kind it is. I live in Portland Oregon that has a mild and wet climate.

It might be an agressive house spider, also known as a hobo spider. Here are some pics that look similar. They leave nasty bites if it is one. Have you found any funnel shaped webs in or around your home?

Well, I can tell you it's a male spider. Judging by its legs, some sort of weaver, probably orb-weaver.

FYI: Female spiders are the ones that spin the webs. Males travel around searching for a female's web. Any spider you see in transit is probably male. Any spider you see occupying a web is probably female. Female spiders are larger than male spiders, sometimes 10 times larger. Also, most spider species are so small that their jaws are physically unable to break human skin. So stop blaming spiders for every strange wound that appears on you! :)

If you haven't already, don't kill it. Spiders trap and eat all the other nasty bugs. I'll gladly share my house with a spider. And when I do, I can be sure I won't be sharing it with anything else. I love how spiders wrap things up and save them for later - like little doggie bags.

Edit: I can tell you without a doubt that this is not a brown recluse.

Your best bet to finding a definitive identification is either one of these sites. They are a great resource to all things insect and a load of fun to look thru.

It's worth going thru the spiders to see what's there. Most spiders while scary looking are beneficial as they eat insect pests.

I do not know what kind of spider but it is creepy and ugly. A library will have that info.

I'm not sure.
Just kill it and stay away from it.
I'm guessing it's nor dangerous
only because it was inside your house.
But then again, it does look really creepy.
