The Nightmare Before Christmas
It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Story
Elf

Those are my favourites. Nightmare is sort of a Halloween movie as well as a Christmas movie.

-A Christmas Carol (1951) (Alastair Sim)
-A Christmas Carol (1984) (George C. Scott)
-It's a Wonderful Life
-The Muppet Christmas Carol
-The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young)
-Miracle on 34th Street (original)
-The Polar Express
(all on DVD)
and a British short made in the early '50's titled "On the Twelfth Day", based on the carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas"--not on DVD as far as I know, but I'd love to see it released someday.

and an operetta, titled "Amahl and the Night Visitors", by Gian-Carlo Menotti...

and Chuck Jones' animated "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", told and performed by the wonderful Boris Karloff..

and although not specifically a movie about Christmas, Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy in "Babes in Toyland", a comedy/fantasy/musical from the early 1930's--Santa does appear in one scene!

All these movies are available on DVD:

Home Alone
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Family Man

I'm sort of a younger guy, so I'm not very informed on some of the classics from the 50's and 60's. I also can't help but think that "The Christmas Story" is a bit overrated. Then, again, what do I know?
