He would have been pressured into retirement, like all the other Generals who have told Bush the truth about what was going to happen, what was happening, or what had happened in Iraq since our invasion.

Any time, any where, any subject, any way and / or in any fashion makes any public statement that the liberals do not agree with, IS going to be condemned, belittled, derided, and denied as truth !!!!!!!!!!!
Irregardless of the facts, IF the liberals can point an accusing finger of blame- by calling anyone a liar, THAT WILL HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!!!! Just look and study the history of the current batch of liberal leaders. This election, started very early, and is the apitamy of crapola !!!!!

General Petraeus told the TRUTH!
And I am sure the truth fell WELL short of what the White house would LIKE to have reported.
I can't help it if you ANTI-American Leftists out there can't take any satisfaction in the FACT that the effort wasn't a TOTAL DISASTER like YOU wanted!
You should be HAPPY there has been some GOOD news.
But then admitting that is like admitting you are ALL liars!

You are ignoring that he certainly did not claim that everything was going perfectly, he did outline difficulties. I believe he gathered information from servicemen in different areas over there, fighting for our safety and presented the information as it was given to him.I do not believe that he and all those servicemen are liars and betray our country.

Moveon.org and THe New York Times decided to call him a betrayer even before they heard him speak. Hey, why let those pesky facts get in the way.

I choose to give this man who is willing to risk his life for me the benefit of the doubt until it is proven he is actually a liar. Not just accused of it with no basis of fact by those trying get their party in the white house. Moveon.org and The New York Times have proved themselves much less trustworthy and clearly biased than Patraeus.

Which is why he was chosen by GWB, If he had defied the White House--the General would be gone in a heart beat, because of his loyalty to the president, he will do as told. It's all a delay game. GWB intend to hand this situation in Iraq over to the in coming president, he does not know what else to do.

what? So unless he tells congress what the left wanted to hear, he was wrong. That is the mantra of the left. You do what we want you to, or we will call you a liar. No matter what. The left had their mind made up about him before he ever sat down. This is sooooo political. The left and right accucentuates what they want, and call the others liars. Sick.

A lot of American troops who will die needlesly in Iraq might live if Petraeus had the integrity to tell the truth.

He reported what he was expected to report. I mean, did his report come as a surprise to anyone on the planet? Nobody. Absolutely nobody. Everyone knew what this Republican government wanted to hear, therefore everyone knew what they WOULD hear.
