Learn your lesson.
Your mouth is burning because there is something in there that doesn't belong. If you don't want it in there, don't eat it.
But if you like the "flavor", as some people say, you'll get used to it.
All these ideas work. I use a spoonful of table sugar. I have since learned that I have an allergy and now I know to be smart and avoid the allergen, then I don't have to compromise my well-being to fit social norms.

I know this sounds weird, but try sugar, lots of it. The Indians, when they eat chilli, have SUPER sweet side dishes. So sweet, that when I tried it on it's own, it made me gag. They all laughed at me of course. And as I don't have a particularly sweet tooth it was somehow worse. But it works, trust me.
I was out in the kitchen doing the dishes one day, and the boys were in the lounge-room trying to see who could eat the hottest green chilli, lol, boys will be boys (the greener it is the hotter the chilli), and suddenly one of them ran out and grabbed the sugar bag and poured it into his mouth. It was my turn to laugh at him, lol. They can usually put a whole chilli in their mouth and just eat it! I guess he lost the challenge, lol. I'm not Indian, by the way, I'm a Kiwi. And I do love hot and spicy food.

The thing in spicy foods that makes you feel the burn is called capsaicin. Capsaicin is water soluable so drinking water will only make the burn spread. Having dairy with spicy foods, or immediately following, seems to cool the burn. The fats in the dairy products coat the tounge & throat and help to neutralize the burning effects.

The "spicy" part of the food lies in the oils it has. Since water and oil don't mix, water does not usually reduce the heat. Alcohol is good(which is why Beer and HotWings is a popular combo). Starchy food can help to remove the spice as well.

eat something salty or have a few sips of hot tea or coffee, you might think that your mouth is going to burn more and it might but only for a few seconds,(hot peppers are oily) so the best way to get rid of oil is with something hot,you will feel the relieve after a moment.

I just try to eat something else that does not burn, but milk usually does the trick.

Lemonade and a soft flour tortilla.
Most hot food has thin oils, which the lemon and sugar can help dispel. The tortilla can act as a blotter, to sop up the excess.
