an algebra 2 teacher who is not going to teach us from the book but is going to focus on word problems all year?

sounds great, i hate textbooks, much better when the teachers pull the important stuff from the books and focus on that. good luck

You probably have a very good teacher. He is going the extra mile; it would be much easier for him to just teach straight out of the book. The textbooks usually suck anyway, they are written by committee and I've never found that they're really geared to the students I'm teaching.

Well I'm glad I'm not in your class. Seriously though, as long as the teacher is meeting the standards set by the state and district there isn't much that can be done.

You or your parents can always check with the district office to make sure he is under state requirements and all, many teachers deviate too far and it is not good.
