I have long been a watchdog for womens rights and this is just unacceptable... Second instance of misogyny in as many weeks by Southwest Airlines! Would you kick off this woman off of airplane or any other place?!

http://www.nbc6.net/news/14090043/detail.html

How come guys that wear black socks and sandals or size 12 women squeezing into size 4 jeans never get kicked out? Your thoughts please...

It's hoped airline CEO administration are asking the very same question. I've looked into this matter w/ a great degree of logical thought, and I think my answers may shed some light:

1) The complainant airline employee(s) may be under depressive stress; unattractive, powerless and quite envious of attractive people--in this case, airline customers. Their newly discovered empowerment to make a dress code decision, knowing the bad call will get backed up, I think, may be the cause. The media attentions may feed the employees need for attention, while satisfying their desire to "catch-back" on those more attractive than they are.

2) The complaining employee(s) may be part of a group of disgruntled employees, afraid of striking and losing their jobs, are finding a way to "stick it" to the airline by drawing negative PR. And what better way to "stick it" to the airline that, for whatever reason, has done its employees bad than to cite an attractive airline customer with dress code violations???

3) The complainant may well be a passenger, seeking nothing more than media attention--and later watching the debacle on CNN and thinking "Hey....I caused that!!".

In either case, it's evident some personal political dynamics are clearly at play here.

Let's see, either a religious nutcase started feeling guilty for sinning and getting turned on, or a woman who got too jealous seeing her man checking her out went and complained. It's interesting how none of these cases involve an unattractive woman, I can swear I have seen more ugly and annoying things on the plane than an attractive woman dressing sexy.

If they encourages more people to dress up on the plane, then maybe the flight won't be as painful. One time when I was at the water park in Hawai'i years ago, some manager came to talk to me about my two-piece bikini because some woman laying next to me had gone and complained that my bikini doesn't cover up much. Now, I was wearing a regular two-piece bikini (it wasn't a thong or anything extra), weighing 120lbs...I have big boobs and a big butt...what am I gonna do about it, wear a one piece because somebody may feel offended? I asked the manger if people had as much problem seeing fat women wearing bathing suits where all the fat is hanging out...he didn't have an answer.

I'm sure this is another one of those cases. Whatever.

It's pretty clear to me those women were singled out because they are young and attractive. Nothing would have happened to an older or less attractive woman if she had dressed in similar attire. I do believe they were dressed in a skimpier manner than I personally find comfortable but they weren't kicked off for that reason. Some people become very hostile to attractive young women. I don't know the reasons for that except for jealousy perhaps.

no, it's not. Those who are on the airline side of things are within their rights. Remember the no shirt, no shoes, no service signs? Same thing, as long as it's uniform across the board, I have no problem with it.
Flip side - the gal can always fly on a differend airline, or put on some more appropriate clothing. She's coming from a "entitlement" perspective and I disagree with that.

Just my 2 cents.

I think it's really dumb. As long a woman's breasts and butt aren't hanging out all over the place, i don't see the problem. I think it's about jealousy, some people can't stand women getting attention from the way they look or dress even if their clothes aren't trashy, they just make an excuse and say they are inappropriate. These people are obviously insecure about their own looks, have no lives, and just need something to complain about.

My first thought is that this could only happen in The U.S.A.
It is outrageous.
My advice to this particular airline would be rather than target attractive women regarding a helter skelter attitude towards a dress code that they pay more attention to all their passengers.
Over here in The UK we are on alert after the terrible bombings at Glasgow Airport.
Perhaps it would be more appropriate to examine all passengers on U.S internal flights- one never knows who is flying or what they may be concealing about their person.

Well apparently asking the obese population to pay double the price has given SWA too much money and now they've decided to institute policy that will encourage mutimillion dollar lawsuits. Gotta even out those books I suppose.

Sure it's not the most conservative dress but c'mon I've seen worse on the teens walking home from my local highschool.

I would certainly not kick her off a plane, but if she showed up at work wearing that dress and the environment in the office was a professional one, I would ask her to cover it up somehow.

there's a certain limit to things i think, i saw the woman on TV with the short skirt and i don't think its acceptable. And what do you have against large women wearing tight jeans or men wearing black socks and sandals, that is in no way a reason to kick someone off a plane or any other public place. I think your mixing up overexposure with bad fashion choices. i suggest you think things through before you make an *** out of yourself, and In my opinion you are not, by any means, fit to even associate yourself with women's rights.
